Building Division
The Building Division ensures the public health, safety and welfare of our citizens through the regulation of construction according to the Florida Building Code. The Division processes building permit applications, verifies required contractor competencies and licensure, reviews plans, issues permits, performs inspections and issues Certificates of Occupancy. The Code Enforcement Division promotes, maintains and enforces city standards, ordinances and codes to preserve and enhance the quality of life and public safety for all who work, live and play in the City of Daytona Beach Shores.

Business Tax Receipt Division
The Business Tax Receipt Division issues business taxes receipts (formerly occupational licenses) to businesses operating in Daytona Beach Shores. This division also provides assistance to those wishing to start a new business in Daytona Beach Shores.

Code Enforcement
Daytona Beach Shores’ citizens are interested and involved in keeping our city clean, safe, and beautiful. To assist residents, property owners, and visitors in this effort, our code enforcement staff responds to citizen concerns and, in addition, proactively conducts inspections to insure compliance with local ordinances.

Planning Division
The Planning Division is under the direct supervision of the Community Services Director. The City Planner performs the technical and administrative work required to develop, maintain, and administer the Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.

Public Works
The Public Works Division is comprised of both maintenance workers and parks and recreation workers. This division is responsible for maintaining our local streets, sidewalks, stormwater system and all work in the rights of way. Additionally, this division maintains all of the city’s parks and beach walkways. This division is also responsible for the maintenance of the city’s new street light system on South Atlantic Avenue.

Sewer Utility Division
The Sewer Utility Division maintains the city’s sewer transmission system. This includes maintenance and repair of all the city’s gravity lines, force mains, manholes and lift stations.
