Welcome to Daytona Beach Shores Historical Museum located at 3048 So Atlantic Avenue. The Museum is in the same building with the Daytona Beach Shores Senior Center and Daytona Beach Shores Council Chamber.
Upon entering the Museum one notices a Center Island on top of which are pictures of both past and present structures in the city. The wall facing the entrance is dedicated to racing and displays a 7-foot picture of Sir Malcolm Campbell and his car called the Blue bird. Pictures of the North and South turns of the first racetrack in this area are located on the same wall. This track ran from Dunlawton Avenue 1 mile South of the Museum up to the Oceans One Condominium. Below Sir Malcolm’s picture is a button which when pushed tells the story of racing in Daytona Beach Shores.
On the wall to the left, are two monitors. On one monitor are pictures of past and present members of the city who were influential in creating and developing the City of Daytona Beach Shores. Upon touching a picture a movie is started showing the individual who then relates his or her involvement with the city. The second monitor has a continuous movie of various happenings in Daytona Beach Shores.
A countertop which surrounds the room contains articles written about the city. Additional pictures of the city are displayed on all four walls around the ceiling.
The Museum is open 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday except for holidays.
