Mayor Harry Jennings
Mayor Harry H. Jennings was elected to a four-year term in November 2010. He was re-elected to a second four-year term in November 2014. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he is a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia, and the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Past Master of Chartiers Valley Lodge No.725 F&AM and a 32 degree Mason from the scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh. Harry and his wife Helen have been married for 48 years and they have two children and two grandchildren.
Prior to retirement, Harry spent 40 years as a development professional and consultant, planning, organizing and conducting annual fund programs, capital campaigns, major gift programs and planned (deferred) gift programs. Institutions served as a staff member include the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Maryland, OldDominionUniversity and EmbryRiddleAeronauticalUniversity and over 80 institutions, including arts organizations, children’s homes, colleges, independent schools, hospitals and museums were served in a consulting capacity.
Harry is co-author of the “Non-Profits Guide to Creating an Effective Governing Board" and conducted seminars throughout the country to help governing board members and staff better understand their roles, responsibilities and relationships.
Mayor Jennings is a member of Grace Episcopal Church; a docent at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, a volunteer for the Halifax Urban Ministries and a past member and chair of the Daytona Beach Shores Planning and Zoning Board.
