Vice Mayor Peggy Rice
Council Member Peggy Rice was elected to a four-year term in November 2010. In November 2012, she was elected as Vice Mayor for the next two years. Ms. Rice was unopposed for the election in November 2014 and is serving another four-year term. Originally from Tennessee, she married and raised her family in Atlanta, Georgia. Peggy attended Oglethorpe University and Georgia State University. She is a past member of National Association of Real Estate Appraisers, is a graduate of Community Associations Institute Operations and Management Program, and successfully completed Courses 1-4 of Certified Commercial Investment Management. Peggy has been actively licensed in real estate since 1973 and as a Broker since 1976.
In 1981, Peggy moved to Orlando, Florida, where she worked in real estate appraisals, and was a partner in Lensa Corporation Commercial Realtors. Before moving to Daytona Beach Shores, she owned a property management company specializing in condominiums. Since 1991, she has worked as resident manager of Oceans Two Condominium and is the owner/broker of Rice & Associates Real Estate.
Council Member Rice served on the Planning and Zoning Board for 7 years and is a past Chairman. In Tallahassee she lobbied our State legislators for a compromise to the sprinkler legislation which could have been devastatingly more costly to owners of older condominiums. She has been active in the Building Association Managers organization since 1991 and served as President for 2 years. She has volunteered for many years with the Florida and Daytona Beach International Festival bringing cultural events to Daytona Beach Shores.
Council Member Rice has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She is a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, and St. Andrews Society.
