ABOUT THE PLANNING DIVISION
The Planning Division is under the direct supervision of the Community Services Director. The City Planner performs the technical and administrative work required to develop, maintain, and administer the Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan. The office is responsible for the following:
- Reviewing public and private development proposals, including but not limited to annexations, future land use, rezoning, special exceptions, variances, site plans, and comprehensive plan amendments.
- Providing technical support to the City Council, Planning and Zoning Board, Beautification Board and Board of Adjustments.
- Targeting and assisting in the development of Community Redevelopment Areas.
- Representing the City on growth and development committees, including the Volusia County Transportation Planning Organization Technical Coordinating Committee, the Volusia Council of Governments Smart Growth Technical Advisory Committee and the Volusia County School District ILA and CSA technical committees.
